Forest-friendly architects – Manual ‘Building with FSC timber’

Architects play a crucial role within the Belgian (and European) building industry, both on the public, corporate and private market, as they can decide or at least influence choices made in building projects, and this also counts for the use of (certified/tropical) timber.

With its ‘forest friendly architect’ project FSC Belgium has severely increased its outreach to architect within Belgium. The overall goal was the promotion of certified timber in construction projects, in which special attention was given to the use of certified tropical timber.

One of the project outcomes was the development of the manual ‘Building with FSC timber’, which was developed in Dutch, French and English. This manual is primarily aimed at architects and builders, offering them an incentive to opt for FSC® certified wood in their construction projects. The manual provides the reader with practical information and tips to successfully put this in practice. Throughout the guide, the different phases of a construction project will be touched upon, with suggestions and recommendations for the successful application of FSC wood in projects of all sizes.
